About
My name is Dong-Yu Gao and you can all me Yu (Simplified Chinese Characters: 高 东宇, Mandarin Pinyin: Dong55-Yu214 Gao55, Wade–Giles: Tung Yü Kao, IPA: tʊŋ55-y214 kɑʊ55). I hold my bachelor’s degree from School of Chinese Langugage and Literature, Wuhan University, with sufficient knowledge from Mathematics. Then I got my masters degree from IT and Cognition, University of Copenhagen.
I completed my bachelor’s thesis in the field of computational linguistics* under the supervision of Prof. Xiao-Chun Huang; and my master’s thesis in Belongie’s Lab affiliated with Pioneer Center for AI and Department of Computer Science, DIKU, where I received hands-on support from Dr. Dan Wang and Dr. Nico Lang. I am deeply grateful for their patience and guidance throughout my study and research.
My previous experience lies in Natural Language Processing(NLP) and 3D Computer Vision(3DCV). With the skillset of machine learning, deep neural network, probabilistic generative models, neural radiance field(NeRFs) and computer graphics, I am always open to find collaboration to answer open questions on:
- re-evaluating knowledge inside large models,
- temporal-spatial perception of intelligence agent,
- multi-modality alignment,
- memory efficient computing.
When taking on a project, I focus on establishing a clear understanding of the objectives and motivations, followed by a collaborative development of a structured framework. We’ll set up proof-of-concept milestones and maintain a steady, interactive approach to achieve our goals, ensuring a smooth and efficient project progression.
*Here is more information in case you want to know more about the field, example for why it is crucial to take a language-specific perspective and risk of over-generalization, and the collective effort on protection of dialect/minority/endangered language resources and raising visibility for minority language speakers in social/legal/business/educational/emergency situations.
Tech4Good
I believe knowledge extends beyond academia and value innovative technology ecosystem. By actively applying it into real-world and leveraging efficient teamwork, we can echo and address societal challenges.
Thanks to the great opportunities offered by Copenhagen Legal Tech Lab and KU Lighthouse, our team ranked first for two consecutive years in the hackathon events. By incorporating multi-dimensional perspectives from Legal Compliance, Financial Instruments, Regional Policies, and Cutting-edge Technology, we provided innovative solutions in the fields of Decentralized Finance and Sustainable Development.
